Spring 2017

It's Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

Colorectal Cancer Awareness MonthWe’re in the middle of March, which is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Have you taken advantage of this unique opportunity to educate your patients and your community about the importance of colon and rectal cancer screening, prevention and treatment? The ASCRS website features a variety of ways to participate in National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. There is still time to reach out to the public and your patients. Here are some ideas:

  • Share social media posts and tweets about colorectal cancer awareness, warning signs and screening, including posts from ASCRS and your colleagues.
  • Promote the Patient Resource Library on the ASCRS website. The library contains short videos and patient-focused content on diseases treated by colorectal surgeons. Consider promoting these videos to educate patients on your role and training as a colon and rectal surgeon.
  • Keep a handy supply of informative brochures in your office so your patients have access to up-to-date information. The ASCRS Online Store offers 27 different patient education brochures, sold in packs of 100.
