Annual Meeting Workshops Provide Essential Learning Opportunities

Workshops are the heart of the Annual Scientific Meeting. This year’s meeting offers numerous workshops in a variety of topics, including:

  • Advanced Robotic Colon and Rectal Surgery
  • AIN and HRA: What the Colorectal Surgeon Needs to Know
  • Question Writing: Do You Know How to Write the Perfect Exam Question?
  • Rectal Prolapse Advanced Methods
  • Young Surgeons Mock Orals and More
  • The Advanced Robotic Colon and Rectal Surgery workshop involves cadaver-based procedural exercises focusing on operative techniques, identification and preservation of critical anatomy and intra-operative trouble shooting. This workshop is for surgeons who have done a minimum of five robotic procedures as a primary surgeon.

Anal cancer is on the rise due to increasing rates of human papilloma virus (HPV) infection. In the AIN and HRA: What the Colorectal Surgeon Needs to Know workshop, participants will receive a comprehensive review of anal HPV infections and the indications and use of HRA for diagnosis and treatment of AIN.

The workshop titled Question Writing: Do You Know How to Write the Perfect Exam Question? will address why most exam questions submitted for review are rejected. Participants will learn how to develop acceptable questions that may be used in certification and recertification exams, CARSITE, CARSEP® and CREST®.

In the Rectal Prolapse Advanced Methods workshop, participants will get a review of primary and recurrent rectal prolapse, learn about the indications and outcomes of laparoscopic ventral rectopexy and the surgical steps of ventral rectopexy.

In the Young Surgeons Mock Orals and More workshop, participants will learn about the structure of the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery’s oral examination and practice answering colorectal oral board-style questions.

All workshops have attendance limits and registration is required. For more details on workshops, look at the ASCRS Annual Scientific Meeting Preliminary Program. Don’t wait! Register for the Annual Meeting and your workshops today!
