At the recommendation of the ASCRS Website Committee, chaired by Dr. David A. Margolin, New Orleans, LA, the Executive Council has agreed that a thorough redevelopment of www.fascrs.org is necessary to update the site and expand its functionality and member offerings.
The Committee’s goal is to have a new website that:
- Professionally represents the organization
- Is easy to maintain yet scalable
- Will provide current news and engaging information
- Allows the membership to update their information and pay dues
- Integrates with iMIS 20 (the ASCRS’s new/upgraded database)
- Generates donations
The current ASCRS Website was developed between 2006 and 2007. The Committee evaluated many proposals from website development firms before selecting Breakthrough Technologies, of Evanston, IL, with Executive Council approval in January.
An initial kick-off meeting was held with Breakthrough staff in person and via web conference during the Annual Meeting in Florida. The first meeting to begin laying out the timeline and project goals and scope was held in late June.
“The Committee selected Breakthrough Technologies because of its vast resources, knowledge of medical societies, and proactive approach to wanting to help the ASCRS create the best possible communication tool for its members, patients, and the profession,” Dr. Margolin says.
“The goal cannot be reached without the work of more than the Website Committee. As we move forward with a new website, other committees of the ASCRS will be called upon to continue to update their content on the site and improve upon it,” he adds.
“The number one goal of the site is better communication with our members,” he says.
