DC&R continues high publication metrics, increases circulation, improves quality, accessibility

Dr. Robert MadoffThe Society’s journal, Diseases of the Colon & Rectum (DC&R), continues to achieve high publication metrics. Its recently reported 2013 Impact Factor is 3.198, a slight correction from its record high of 3.336 in 2012 but still surpassing the journal’s previous record impact factor of 3.132 in 2011, Editor-in-Chief Dr. Robert D. Madoff, Minneapolis, MN reports.

A journal’s Impact Factor is a measure of quality based on total number of citations and articles published. The journal now ranks ranks 22 of 202 titles in the surgery category and 24 of 74 titles in the gastroenterology and hepatology category.

The high Impact Factor came with steadily increasing circulation and reach for DC&R (total individual subscriptions of 3,256 and total Ovid reach of 2,315.) The journal’s reach continues to expand through website article downloads, app-based whole journal downloads, and widespread use of the Ovid platform.

DC&R continues to improve both its scientific quality and subscriber accessibility. We are steadily increasing video content, including technical notes and video vignettes. We constantly strive to make our journal the most valuable and relevant publication for our colorectal surgery readership,” Dr. Madoff reported.

The Editor-in-Chief announced the retirement of seven Associate Editors, thanking them for “their tireless efforts on the Journal’s behalf,” and appointment of seven new Associate Editors.
