CREST Committee’s online educational portal to be fully operational later this year
Dr. Scott SteeleBy Dr. Scott R. Steele, Chair, ASCRS CREST Committee

The CREST Committee (ColoRectal Education Systems Template) was tasked with overseeing the initiative of an online educational portal. After some temporary setbacks, we are very excited to announce that we have partnered with ExtendMed, and CREST will be fully online later this year.

There are currently over 50 modules in place with additional modules to be developed. Each module is categorized by topic and contains a chapter from the ASCRS Textbook, one or more narrated slide presentations, Core Subject material, ASCRS Practice Parameters (Clinical Practice Guidelines), review questions, select lecture videos from recent ASCRS Annual meetings, Diseases of the Colon and Rectum journal articles and other elements from the ASCRS image and video libraries.

Individuals will be able to track their progress, and program directors can follow their fellows--complete with reports. As additional modules are developed, CME will also be available for a small fee. On the horizon, we will have weekly curriculum similar to SCORE for the general surgery residents. This has required a tremendous amount of work by our members, and we are eager to share it with everyone.
