ASCRS forms collaboration with Colon Cancer Alliance to reach new donor base, gain wider public visibility
Dr. Bradley Champagne ASCRS has formed an exciting collaborative effort with the Colon Cancer Alliance (CCA).

“This collaboration with CCA offers a unique opportunity to reach a new base of potential donors for the ASCRS Research Foundation and to give our Society’s name, our specialty and patient care mission much wider public visibility,” says Past President Dr. Alan Thorson, Omaha, NE, who is the liaison for the new collaboration.

Planning for 2015 Annual Meeting Scientific Program well underway

The planning for the 2015 ASCRS Annual Scientific Meeting is underway with sessions being held at the Hynes Convention Center & Sheraton Boston Hotel in Boston, MA, May 30 – June 3, 2015. In addition, some hands-on workshops this year will be held at an off-site facility.

CREST Committee’s online educational portal to be fully operational later this year

DC&R continues high publication metrics, increases circulation, improves quality, accessibility
Dr. Robert Madoff The Society’s journal, Diseases of the Colon & Rectum (DC&R), continues to achieve high publication metrics. Its recently reported 2013 Impact Factor is 3.198, a slight correction from its record high of 3.336 in 2012 but still surpassing the journal’s previous record impact factor of 3.132 in 2011, Editor-in-Chief Dr. Robert D. Madoff, Minneapolis, MN reports.

ASCRS Past President Dr. John MacKeigan Dies at 70
Dr. John M. MacKeigan, who served as ASCRS President in 2000-2001, died of cancer at his home in West Olive, Michigan, July 27 at the age of 70. After graduating from medical school and completing a general surgery residency at Dalhousie University Medical School in Halifax, Nova Scotia, he came to the Ferguson Clinic in Grand Rapids, MI, for his colon and rectal surgery residency, and started his clinical practice there.
