ASCRS Past President Dr. Steven Wexner elected to ACS Board of Regents

Dr. Steven WexnerASCRS immediate Past President Dr. Steven D. Wexner, Weston, FL, has been elected to a three-year term as a member of the Board of Regents of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). He becomes one of 22 on the board governing the affairs of the College on behalf of its 78,000 members.

Dr. Wexner has been a Fellow of the ACS since 1991. He was chair (2003-2005) and a member of the College’s Advisory Council for Colon and Rectal Surgery (1997-2003). Currently, he serves as a member of the College’s Commission on Cancer (CoC). From 2000 to 2004, he served as President of the ACS South Florida Chapter. Since 2000, Dr. Wexner has served on the editorial board of the Journal of the American College of Surgeons and previously served on the Board of Directors of the American College of Surgeons Professional Association-Surgeons PAC (2005-2010).

Dr. Wexner is past president of the ASCRS (2011-2012), past president of the ABCRS (2010-2011), and Vice President of the ASCRS Research Foundation.

Dr. Wexner is Chairman of the Department of Colorectal Surgery, Emeritus Chief of Staff and Chief Academic Officer at Cleveland Clinic Florida. He was recently awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Belgrade in Belgrade, Serbia.
